New Doctor Spotlight: Get to Know Dr. David A. Farnen, DPM

As you all know, Dr. David Farnen has now joined the exceptional team at Cutting Edge Foot and Ankle. We got to sit down and ask him a few questions.

Why did you choose Podiatry?

Well, it’s because I love the field and everything we do. NO, I do not have a foot fetish. I don’t have a crazy professional athlete story where I was doing to play pro basketball or baseball and hurt my foot or ankle. Mine is really simple actually. I chose Podiatry because I have never seen a doctor happier from doing what they love. When I was able to shadow my mentor pre-medical school, I saw literally how happy he was and all of his patients were that saw him. To me, that was incredible.

True or False: You are a Diabetic?

Absolutely 100% true! My story is actually pretty interesting. I was not born with diabetes, and do not have a family history of type 1 diabetes. I was in my first year of surgical residency when I literally thought was Superman. I never slept, stressed all the time, worked out and had the body of Ryan Reynolds (haha..jk) I was over eating, not gaining any weight, I was thirtsy all the time and exhausted all day. My body was telling me something and I was not listening. Turns out, I left on medical leave to get medical attention where the news was given to me that I would have to be giving myself insulin to live. I

What are you passionate about in our field?

Really anything foot or ankle. But if I have to choose a niche, I really love limb salvage, wound care and preventative foot care. I could count the number of times that I could have prevented a limb loss, a hospital admission or just saved a limb and a life. When I evaluate and treat patients in the office or wound care center, I can sleep at night knowing I am providing the best care imaginable and doing my best to heal each and everyone of them. I strive to treat all my patients like family. I am excited to be a part of the wound care family at Tristar Centennial hospital where I will be working.

So when you are not working, what do you like to do?

I am obsessed with my family! I am the epitome of a girl dad. My daughter and beautiful wife have my attention and my heart. I love to waltz across our kitchen floor with my daughter to Beauty and the Beast. I love to be her make up doll and exclusive guest to her tea parties and join her as the main lifeguard in my unicorn floaties. I would love to travel more, which we will get to soon. I love Nashville. I love the community and volunteering my time at local charities and businesses as much as I can. I love Country music and everything it stands for.

Dr. Farnen will start seeing patients in our Skyline Medical Plaza office at 3443 Dickerson Pike, Suite 740. Come make a same day appointment for any and all foot or ankle issues.
